MathematicsWe are a hardworking and rapidly improving faculty. Last year the faculty achieved its best GSCE results for some years. This year we have gone even further and expect to see 75% A*- C at GCSE. We operate an open door policy which makes students feel comfortable and encourages them to see us to ask for help and advice. Location and ResourcesWe are based on the 2nd floor with a suite of 5 classrooms all with a class set of 30 computers and interactive whiteboard. We have invested and continue to invest in new textbooks so that our students have up to date material to work with. Courses Key Stage 3 Each year group has a programme of study that sets out a clear path for all students. Key Stage 4 We follow the edexcel linear course for GCSE mathematics. There are opportunities for early entry in year 10 and GCSE Statistics in year 11. Key Stage 5 We follow edexcel modular AS/A2 level courses We also offer Further Maths at AS/A2 for talented students that have an A* at GCSE. Extra-curricular There are very many classes offered after school for students to attend to help them with their studies. The maths classrooms are usually open every lunchtime as well as after school. We encourage students to come and learn outside of lesson times so that they can prepare for exams and maths challenges. |
