STUDENT CODE OF CONDUCT

At Bishop Douglass School we believe:

All pupils have the right to learn and achieve;

All teachers have the right to teach;

Everybody has the right to feel safe and respected;

Every student should be given an opportunity to develop a healthy life style.

5 Golden Rules for Effective Learning

We attend every lesson and arrive on time;

We bring our planners and the correct equipment to lessons;

We sit where our teacher tells us;

We listen in silence when someone else is talking;

We work to the best of our ability and let others do the same;

5 Golden Rules for a Safe Community

We respect our own and others' 'personal space' and speak politely at all times;

We walk calmly on the left in the corridors and on the stairs;

We eat and drink in the dining room and put our litter in litterbins;

We leave electronic gadgets at home i.e. mobile phones, MP3 players, etc;

We walk on the pavements, we queue politely for buses and we treat the public, with respect when travelling to and from school.

5 Golden Aims for a Healthier Life

We aim to eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day;

We aim to drink two litres of water each day;

We aim to walk for at least 30 minutes or complete at least 30 minutes exercise every day;

We avoid smoking tobacco and taking any illegal substances;

We are responsible for our own emotions, feelings and actions.
