At Bishop Douglass we understand that education is about more than text books and exams.
Each year we suspend our comprehensive curriculum for one week in July and run a variety of enrichment activities for years 7-10
Year seven have a bespoke programme that combines a residential experience with outdoor activities to build and develop essential team skills and confidence. The week concludes with trips into London where students are given the opportunity to develop their knowledge about our Capital city and presentation to their peers.
Years 8, 9 & 10 are offered a variety of residential experiences including in the past, trips to Rome, Spain and Torquay’s PGL centre. The residential experience is popular amongst our students and allows them the opportunity to discover new talents and submerge themselves in new cultures.
For all those who do not wish to go on a residential, we run a comprehensive number of workshops in schools that offer students the chance to develop interests in new areas such as ecology, film making and Music Technology or develop skills already explored on the curriculum such as Food Technology, Pottery and Design Technology. Whether on a Residential or on site, this special week is enjoyed and remembered by all.
