Two form class representatives are elected at the beginning of the autumn term and attend meetings which are held every half term. A topic is set in advance and key questions are given to the Student Council members to discuss with their form groups. Feedback from these discussions is bought to the Student Council meetings. The Head boy and girl, and their deputies, chair the Student Council meetings. Previous meetings have focused on community matters such as rewards, spirituality, numeracy and literacy. Pupils are also have the opportunity to raise any other issues arising at meetings. Feedback from the meetings is shared in assemblies, on the school noticeboard and with the Senior Leadership team, with key actions from meetings being implemented.

The Student Council is a valuable Bishop Douglass community group that provides students with the opportunity to develop their skill set, including their diplomacy, communication and negotiation skills.
