• Wednesday 22 November 2023 Black History Month In the month of October, we observed Black History Month at Bishop Douglass.
• Monday 20 November 2023 Fantastic Work Well done to Eduardo in Year 7, who over the half term produced a vibrant painting of the character Bart from Simpsons tv show. He used POSCA Pens and paints and is very rightly proud of his work - as are we!

• Monday 13 November 2023 E-Praise Congratulations are in order to the many students who were awarded an outstanding number of E-Praise points last term, and celebrated with our breakfast celebration event.
• Friday 10 November 2023 Poppy Appeal We are raising money for the Royal British Legion as part of their poppy appeal. Please support by encouraging children to bring in money for poppies and to wear them proudly in support of those who died protecting our freedom. Our sixth form liturgical prefects are coming around to sell poppies, and they are also available in reception.
• Tuesday 7 November 2023 Bishop Douglass Live Lounge Nadia, Aidan and Raphael in Year 7 have formed a band and treated a packed Live Lounge to live covers of 'Riptide’ and ‘Stay with Me.’ Their talent shone, with a massive audience who applauded the band. We can't wait to see what they do next!
• Friday 3 November 2023 Trip to the Bank of England At the end of last term, Year 13 economists visited the Bank of England for a trip to their museum and to receive a talk titled 'An Introduction to the Bank of England and Monetary Policy', designed for A Level Economics students as monetary policy is a fundamental part of their examination specification.
• Monday 30 October 2023 Proud of our Diversity 8F shared their cultural heritage mini projects with each other which was a wonder celebration of our incredible diversity here at Bishop Douglass! A lot of them learnt things about their culture that they did not know, and it generated discussions and involvement from parents too which allowed for fantastic engagement between the home and school.

• Monday 23 October 2023 Global Girl Leading Conference! This week, girls from Years 9-13 attended the Global Girl Leading Conference at the Mulberry School for Girls. Pupils had the opportunity to see and hear from some inspiring speakers, beginning with the first panel on The Representation of Women in Media.
• Wednesday 18 October 2023 Sporting Success! Yesterday was a very busy day for girl's sport. 4 fixtures took place across KS3, with every participating pupil enjoying the chance to represent Bishop Douglass.
• Tuesday 17 October 2023 A Talented Cohort Take a look at these excellent oil pastel portraits from our Year 12 Art students Nathanielle, Reshaniya and Makena.
• Thursday 12 October 2023 Beyond the Classroom Year 12 and 13 Politics students spent a blustery morning exploring political sites in the heart of London. They enjoyed a tour of the Palace of Westminster and a workshop about how laws are passed. They ended the Supreme Court.
• Tuesday 10 October 2023 Budding Geographers At the end of September, Year 11 Geographers headed to Walton-on-the-Naze for their GCSE physical coursework.
• Wednesday 4 October 2023 Careers Visit We were delighted to have Professor Wilfred Achille talk to our pupils in Year 10 and a smaller group in Y7-13 about working in architecture and the architecture industry. He was joined by our previous head boy Anthony who is one of his architecture students.
• Monday 2 October 2023 Bertha Earth Bertha Earth is an incredible programme, designed to build a network of young environmental ambassadors and support them to explore creative solutions to environmental problems, alongside a wealth of other opportunities and benefits to our pupils.
• Friday 29 September 2023 Chess Club We are delighted to share that Bishop Douglass Chess Club has achieved national recognition for its efforts. The school has won a British Chess Educational Trust Award for 2023. This is a prestigious national award for schools that show "outstanding achievements or enthusiasm!"
• Wednesday 27 September 2023 An Introduction to Politics Year 12 Politics students met Sarah Sackman, Labour parliamentary candidate for Barnet and Golders Green.
• Tuesday 26 September 2023 Guest Speaker Events We were delighted to have Paul Christian visit us from Caritas and St. Joseph's to talk about working with those with learning disabilities.
• Monday 25 September 2023 Future Ready To kickstart the new academic year, Year 13 students embarked on an exciting UCAS trip to Reading University, to experience life at university and begin to prepare for their next steps. They had a great time exploring the ground, and even immersed themselves in nature!
• Wednesday 20 September 2023 Life at Cambridge Two students in two years have embarked on their next pathway to one of the best universities in the country.
• Monday 18 September 2023 Reading for Pleasure As part of our drive to increase reading for pleasure, classes across the school enjoyed 20 mins of dedicated reading time. KS3 enjoyed the chance to read a book of their choice. KS4 & 5 used the opportunity to explore academic reading in their subjects.
• Wednesday 13 September 2023 Working in Partnership A fantastic example of our pupils working together in partnership. Year 12 Literacy Prefects hosted guided reading sessions for Year 7 readers. Not only has this supported our transition and induction efforts, but it has provided our older students with opportunities to develop their skill sets. And it was wonderful to hear such beautiful reading in the morning, too!

• Thursday 13 July 2023 Parliamentary Ping Pong Year 12 Politics have been learning about the functions of Parliament; how power is shared between the chambers, their roles and how they are impacted by scrutiny and accountability. To practice their knowledge they competed in a game of Parliamentary ping-pong!
