A prestigious trip

The excitement was palpable across the whole of the Sixth Form as ten selected Year 12 students recently visited the prestigious University of Cambridge and received a tour of Gonville & Caius College.
Anuk, picks up the story and tell us about their experience:
“This was a remarkable opportunity for us and we were assigned to a current Cambridge student who took us on an inside track experience we will never forget. The university architecture is beautiful and ancient in nature although, it would be fair to say, that the library stole the spotlight with its vast variety and quantity of books. After the end of the tour we retreated back to the seminar area where we took part in a Q&A forum with current students, as well as the admissions officer.
The main advice we were given was just to be passionate about the subject that you are doing, and to ensure this passion shines, whether it’s through your personal statement, interview or SAQ (an additional process that allows you to give contextual information, although this is exclusive to Cambridge). We then moved on to lunch and then our final segment of the day which acted as a mixture of supervision and a lecture. Proof that “an apple a day does not keep the medicine undergraduates away”, we delved into the world of Natural Sciences – and Biology in particular!
The lecture itself was incredibly informative and gave me and hopefully other students an insight into university learning. To conjecture, I must say that today has certainly been an amazing experience and an educational one at that, hopefully serving as an inspiration to anyone who went on the trip to apply to this incredible university.”
