Aymen joined Bishop Douglass in Year 9 with minimal English and since then has gone on to achieve great things, which he credits to the support received from staff.
“The support and assistance with applying to University through UCAS was amazing. My teachers made it known that they were available to help with any questions I had and their advice and support with writing personal statements and advice made me feel confident with my application. I couldn't have achieved this without all the support I received. Securing my place at Imperial feels like a dream come true. I still can't quite believe it!".

“I am very excited for the future.... My advice to students who want to aim high is to surround yourself by people you want to be like. I am so glad I made the decision to continue studying at Bishop Douglass for Sixth Form. It has been a great place to study, all the teachers know each student personally – learning styles, passions and ambitions for the future, which made sure we all received a personalised experience. It is a Sixth Form where teachers aren't just doing a job but where they want to see you succeed and are a part of your journey".
Lady has excelled in her studies at the Bishop Douglass Sixth Form, achieving an impressive A*AB. Lady credits the school and Sixth Form for helping her to develop her language and learning skills, as she joined us in Year 10 from the Philippines. She looks forward to carrying these skills to Queen Mary University London to study Actuarial Sciences.
“Joining a new school in a different country in Year 10 was incredibly daunting but look what I have achieved! The best advice I could give a younger student would be to be ambitious; Bishop Douglass sets high standards for all students, as they believe we are all capable of more and are dedicated to helping us to achieve this. These attitudes taught me to be confident and teachers always provided us with the best resources and guidance to help ensure we could actually achieve more than what we initially thought. Even though there have been bumps along the journey because of the challenges of the last year, I felt confident coming in to receive my A-Level results today.”
High achiever Jorja looks forward to her next adventure at Bristol University where she will read Political Sciences. "Don't be afraid to have big dreams! Most importantly, take up every opportunity that comes your way. There is a real sense of community at Bishop Douglass; from the supportive teachers and additional lessons to the family feel among my peers to the environment. Everyone across the Sixth Form wants each student to excel and follow their passions and this year there was a big emphasis on resilience and independent learning, which I believe helped us all greatly in encouraging us to never give up throughout a challenging year. I know I will be taking these life skills we have been taught throughout our time at Bishop Douglass with me to university”.
