GCSE Results 2024

Pupils at Bishop Douglass continue to exceed in GCSE results

Governors have proudly acknowledged the hard work, resilience, and dedication of students and staff following very good GCSE results.  Overall, results are significantly above the national average and the school community can be pleased with student achievement. In specific subjects, Bishop Douglass saw significant improvements, with students excelling, particularly in English, Maths, Physics, Biology, Computer Science and Media Studies.

Despite being the 'Covid' generation, students have demonstrated remarkable perseverance, with many achieving outstanding individual successes.

He said “There is always a challenge but there is always a teacher to overcome them with you”. He will be studying Maths, Further Maths, Biology and Chemistry in the 6th Form.

Praising her teachers for their support and helping her achieve her goals, Aliyah celebrated her results 9999998887 and she has big ambitions but is first looking forward to Bishop Douglass 6th Form to continue her success by studying English Literature, History and Psychology.

Michelle Henderson Head of School commented “Our students have shown incredible grit and determination, which will serve them well in their future endeavours.  We are particularly proud of those who have overcome personal challenges to achieve beyond expectations.  Furthermore, the school continues to emphasise personal development and well-being, alongside academic achievement. Our students have not only been preparing for exams but also developing skills such as resilience, critical thinking, and adaptability, which are essential for future success”.

Gerald Murphy, Chair of Governors added “We may not have reached the dizzy heights of last year progress 8, but there are some remarkable success stories that show the fruits of effort and commitment. Looking forward, Bishop Douglass remains committed to providing the highest quality education, with a renewed focus on supporting all students to reach their full potential. We are confident that we will continue to build on our strengths and help every student achieve success”.

Head of Sixth Form, Daniela Prina said “The Sixth Form team would like to extend their heartfelt congratulations to all students who completed their GCSEs this year.  We are excited for the future and  look forward to many returning back to our Sixth Form in September”.
