A Level and BTEC students at Bishop Douglass Sixth Form celebrate places at top UK universities

Bishop Douglass Catholic School is delighted to share the results achieved by our A Level and BTEC students. The school which is renowned for its pursuit of academic excellence, is thrilled to announce another year of exceptional A-Level and BTEC results, showcasing the dedication and hard work of both students and teachers.

Head of School, Michelle Henderson expressed her immense pride at the results and commended both students and staff for their hard work this year. “Our vision at Bishop Douglass is to be the best you can be and it has been inspiring to see this group of students excel and secure so many university places. I would also like to extend my thanks to our dedicated staff, who always set high standards and have provided our young people with every opportunity to fulfil their potential. We would like to wish everyone receiving their results today every success whatever they choose to do next." Students received positive results across the board, with 72% achieving A*-C and 75% achieving Merit-Distinction* at BTEC.

Some of our standout achievements include:

  • Ilea Dehghan who has achieved four A*s in Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and Theology and is our highest ever attaining A Level student and has a place at Imperial to study Maths;
  • Zak Nakmouch who received three A*s in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology and a place to study Medicine at the University of Leicester;
  • Anuk Weerawardana who achieved two A*s and an A in English Literature, Psychology and Chemistry respectively and has a place at the University of Cambridge (Homerton College) to study English Literature;
  • Lazslo Major who achieved Distinction Stars in PE, Business and IT and has a place at Queen Mary to study Business Management with a year in industry.

Year 12 students have also performed extremely well and are well placed to produce excellent A Level results in the summer of 2024.

Our Head of Sixth Form was extremely proud of all the results “Congratulations to all our students on their hard earned results. Our sixth form is going from strength to strength and our results are comparable with some of the best across the country.”

Headteacher and CEO of Cardinal Humes Academies Trust, Martin Tissot stated: “The achievements of our students have come as a direct result and reward of their continuous efforts, dedication and grit.
